Additional OUTSIDE of class time assignments WILL be given throughout the year. Due dates will be announced and posted on the French Class Calendar and reminders will be sent via Twitter.
What's Happening in the French Speaking World?
Every week, students are to present a 30 second summary of a Current Event in a French Speaking Area/Region/Country.
Presentations will be done on Mondays and Tuesdays. *Only 30 school weeks have BOTH a Monday & a Tuesday in them. If there is NO class on Monday, NO ARTICLE is due that WEEK. If there is NO class on Tuesday, NO ARTICLE is due that WEEK.
Students will use Diigo.com to SHARE the source of their information. (Must be done BEFORE FRENCH CLASS!)
Current events may NOT be repeated in a class period, or for the year. Only ONE presentation, per Class Period, per TOPIC. FIRST to SHARE a web-site on that TOPIC, will be the ONLY student to get Credit for that TOPIC! (The sooner you share the topic you want to present, the easier it will be!) - More than one student can not present on a single topic, each topic (headline/story) must be unique!
ONLY students with EXCUSED ABSENCES will be allowed to complete this activity late, and MUST BE completed during the NEXT CLASS following his/her absence (because this is a standing homework assignment, there is no "plus one" for completion.)
Rubric:
On-time? Yes = 2pts No = 0 for the ENTIRE GRADE (no partial credit for the rest of the assignment)
Shared on Diigo? Yes = 2pts No = 0 for the ENTIRE GRADE (no partial credit for the rest of the assignment)
Unique Story? Yes = 2pts No = 0 for the ENTIRE GRADE (no partial credit for the rest of the assignment)
Summary 25 - 35 seconds? Yes = 2pts No= 1pt
Oral Summary includes (IN THIS ORDER): Where? When? Who? What? How? Why? 1pt each = possible total of 6pts
Written Summary on Diigo "sticky note" includes (IN THIS ORDER): Where? When? Who? What? How? Why? 1pt each = possible total of 6pts
Highlighting Website (on Diigo) to back up presented facts? Yes = 1 pt for each highlighted answer to: Where? When? Who? What? How? Why? = possible total of 6pts
TOTAL possible Points = 26 pts x 30 presentations for the year = 780 points required for the year.
